Club and community events at universities can foster connections for college students. However, outdated event calendars and scattered information can make it challenging for students to discover new clubs and make connections in their community.

Booth gives a voice to campus clubs and residential communities, streamlining the event management process for hosts, while also giving students a cohesive platform to find and share campus events

My Role

My desire to grow as a visual designer led me to take on the role as UI Design lead. Within this role, I took charge in establishing the app’s design style, and I focused on how the interface appealed to the user.

The Booth Scanner

The Booth Scanner uses RFID technology to seamlessly sign-in attendees. All attendance data is automatically uploaded to Booth, where it can then be downloaded as a spreadsheet for university reporting.

Pair the Booth Scanner to your device when your event is about to start. Students can sign-in with a wave of their phone, and their details will be recorded.

At the outset of each project, I make sure to sit down with my team to identify individual roles and tasks that leverage our strengths and interests. We hash out a plan, mapping out every step and deadline along the way. This way, we all know what we're responsible for, and we stay right on schedule.

As a team of student leaders we bonded over the shared struggle of promoting student events and getting involved on campus. This is due to outdated event calendars, scattered information across social media, and a generally uninformed student body. These issues make it difficult to stay up-to-date on events and opportunities during this pivotal stage of our lives.

Before diving into the design phase, I always prioritize research. It's crucial to get a solid grasp on the specific challenges people are facing and what they're seeking in a solution. This ensures that our design efforts are targeted and effective. So, at the start of this project, my team and I interviewed and surveyed 65 student attendees and event hosts from schools across the U.S. to hear their experience with attending and hosting campus events.
